** The veterinarian must be approved and accredited by the Government Veterinarian Authority of the pet’s departing country. If the pet is departing Canada, the veterinarian used must be CFIA approved.
** All dates must be written in the ISO (International Standards): dd/mm/yyyy
** All documentation must be completed in blue ink
The pet must be implanted with a microchip that is compatible with international standards (ISO 11784/11785). Microchip Implantation Record must be provided. Microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccination.
Dogs:
Valid Certification of DHLPP Vaccination within 1 year and 4 weeks prior importation.
Valid Certification of Rabies Vaccination within 1 year and 4 weeks prior importation.
Cats:
Valid Certification of FVRCP Vaccination within 1 year and 4 weeks prior importation.
Valid Certification of Rabies Vaccination within 1 year and 4 weeks prior importation.
This blood test must be administered to cats and dogs, two (2) to three (3) weeks after the rabies vaccination, by an approved government facility. The blood test results must be 0.5 IU/ml or above. The test remains valid for 2 years, so it must be conducted within this timeframe to be valid for transport.
Permits must be obtained from The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of the country of import. Copies of all vaccine stickers must be provided to obtain import permit.
The pet must be accompanied by a Veterinarian Health Certificate, available here, that must be issued 10 days prior to departure. http://www.inspection.gc.ca/english/anima/heasan/export/petcom/petcome.shtml
The following forms must be sent to the local CFIA and the Guatemalan Embassy for their stamp of approval: Microchip Implantation Record, Rabies Certificate, Veterinarian Health Certificate, and Rabies Titer Test Results.
To clear customs, the following must be provided: a copy of the pet owner’s passport, a copy of the visa (if available), and a note from the pet owner’s employer on company letterhead explaining the relocation
